The People’s Movement for Democracy was to organize a protest in Colombo on February 08 to coincide with the completion of two years since the arrest of former Army chief Sarath Fonseka as he was not released on the day of independence as expected. The walk which planned from Kandy to Colombo and the protest has been cancelled. As a condition of releasing Mr.Fonseka Tiran Alas has promised the president that there will be no protest held on February 08.
